| Having a common love for music and the Cello, Chris Stavrou, Artistic Director with the help of his first chamber members (Alicia Miller, Michael Schmitz, Hillary Johnson, Molly Carter, and Heather Spence), and highly respected Cello instructor Lori Barnett founded Off the Sound Post in November of 2004. In the Spring Semester of 2005, Off the Sound Post practiced diligently, worked hard to coordinate parts, and started a legacy with their first sold out concert in April. Once returning back from the long summer break, Off the Sound Post grew and within a four week span was able to organize and harmonize another sold out Concert in November 2005. Today Off the Sound Post has big ambitions with Villa Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras for eight cellos and soprano and a new composition by Stephen Gage (a long time family friend of Chris') for five cellos "Winter Journey." Along those ambitions Off the Sound Post plans to play for Senator Barack Obama and Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois and is in the midst to start recording their music. Even with all of these plans, Off the Sound Post's history is short, but not short lived as Off the Sound Post continues to inspire, motivate, and expand Washington's great and prospering cultural community.
