Rainer Leonhardt is heir to a respected family master workshop reaching back for generations.
Located in the gorgeous medieval town of Mittenwald, with the Isar river visible through the workshop windows on one side, ancient millstreams full of trout on the other, and the majestic Bavarian Alps overlooking all, this workshop produces a small number of instruments in the great German tradition.
Mr. Leonhardt attended the violin making school in Mittenwald, completed his journeymanship in several well-known German workshops, and was admitted as a Master Violinmaker in 1990. Since that time, he has worked in the family workshop, of which he is now the leader.
Mr. Leonhardt has won numerous awards for tone and craftsmanship, and is currently on the examination board for aspirants to the title of Master Violin maker in Germany.
This cello has a two-piece back, matching ribs and scroll of narrow flamed maple.
The top is of medium grained spruce. The garnish is of a light yellow-brown color.
I have all the information appraised by Mr.Horst H.Uebel. Instrument is in very good condition, recently cleaned and has a beautiful, warm sound.
I have owned this cello since 1995, and it has accompanied me many journeys. This is my first real cello and I am deeply attached to it. I need to sale it because it no longer can fulfill my educational needs and I am going to work in a professional orchestra starting this fall.
The cello value is appraised for $7,000. I am hoping it will find a suitable owner--this is the most important thing for me and the price is negotiable.
I am moving to Asia for the job position and hoping to sell the cello in the States before I leave.
Please call to try the instrument at The Cleveland Institute of Music, Cleveland OHIO.
Sincerely,
Joyu
