This German cello was appraised in 1999 for $9500 and, if only due to inflation alone, it is worth considerably more today. It is full-size and modeled after Stradivarius. It has its original varnish. The inside label reads, “Joanne Paul Schorn H.F. Muficus Lauten und Geigenmacher in Salzburg anno 1716.” We have been told it is not as old as 1716 but more likely was made sometime around 1900. It is a beautiful instrument with a focused and extremely expressive sound. It has served as the main instrument of the current owner, a professional cellist, for the last ten years for both symphonic and chamber music work. It is a very easy instrument to play and its beauty is clearly apparent from the pictures at the following site.
