I have a German/East-European cello for sale, that is around 170 years old. I spent thousands on having the cello completely refurbished to its full potential, and I think that it is finally time to part with it as I have recently purchased a new cello.
It is a real one-of-a-kind cello which has a beautiful, noble, deep sound, with a richness that you only get in an old matured instrument. I have tried $6000 cellos that have not sounded anywhere near as nice as this cello; the price/value does not correlate with how good an instrument is! The only reason why I am selling it for such a low price is because the damage (which as all been repaired) has lessened the value of the instrument considerably.
It has an ebony fingerboard (recently planed), original ebony tailpiece, good set of strings on it (A, D, G larsens, C tungsten spirocore i think, about 7 months old?), new bridge, new soundpost, original ratchet screws instead of pegs, which makes it very easy to tune and heavy fine-tuners that affect the sound completely unnecessary.
The label inside says 'Guiseppe Maravelli fecit anno 1836' - however it is likely that this has only be attributed to him.
Please contact me if you would like high quality photos sent to you, or to try out the cello.
