| Detailed photos and more at www.missplumeau.com/ElectraThis cello is a "Piatti" model named Electra. It was made in Cremona in 1986. The table is made of tight red fir (Abete rosso, Venatura stretta). The back is made of one piece of Balkan Maple (Acera balkano con fascie e testa dello stesso legna; marezzarura stretta). The varnish is light brown red (Marrone rosso). My former teacher, Margaret Tait of the San Francisco Symphony recommended this cello very highly. I purchased it new in 1987 for $8000. The bow was made in the late 1980's in Bordeaux France by Mr. Lauxerois.
