| Tim is, in many people's opinion, one of the best luthiers in this country. Numerous professional musicians around the world play on his instruments. Tim follows a very strict ethos to his work: None of his instruments are antiqued to give the impression that they are old. His justification is that none of the old italian masters did this, and neither should today's. His varnishes are exceptional in clarity and elasticity. A true varnish takes up to three years to dry completely and I can say first hand it's worth the wait. A genuine linseed oil varnish has a warmth of sound that is not possible from a solvent based varnish. |
